After several discussions with both the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta and the California Department of Public Health in Sacramento, we have decided to postpone the UCP Wheel-a-Thon until a later date. As everyone knows, there have been cases in California of the H1N1 virus (Swine flu) most recently discovered in Long Beach and Pasadena. Although none of the cases have proven to be serious, based on the demographic of those attending the Wheel-a-Thon, as well as a warning from the California Department of Public Health, we feel it is in the best interest of our clients to postpone the event until there is no risk to participants.
We are looking at possible dates to reschedule the event in the Fall, or at a timewhen it is deemed safe for our clients as well as the general public to participate.
An email will be sent on Monday, May 11th to those who gave money in support of the event regarding options on how to either receive a reimbursement, or allocate the money towards the future Wheel-a-Thon.
We are still very enthusiastic about this event and feel that an event of this nature will bring positive awareness for UCP from the general public and the surrounding community. Please stay tuned for further details on a future date for the 1st Annual Wheel-a-Thon and Fun Walk.
Thanks for your continued support!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact anyone in the Development Department.
